In order to get an account on HPCx, you must be a member of an approved project. If you wish to start such a project, you have to apply for support through EPSRC or one of the other Research Councils. Information about the available facilities and about how to apply can be found on the EPSRC HPC pages (see below). In particular, please check the Guidance Notes.
You will need to submit a proposal for support to your Research Council. In addition, you will need to fill in the special Application Form for access to HPCx - this is available from the EPSRC website, or follow the links below. After that, you will need to get a technical assessment of your proposal by us - to do this, send the completed form (Word document by email is best) to helpdesk, at email@example.com. We will send the form back, including the technical assessment - please allow two weeks for this. The completed form, including our technical assessment, should accompany your submission.
The application form, for both Class 1 and Class 2 users, can be found on the EPSRC website and also at the links below. Please note that Class 2 on HPCx is now re-opened.
The Research Council will take around 4-6 months to consider your proposal. When you receive a grant award letter, please contact the helpdesk at firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange for your project to be created on the service.

Once you are a member of an authorised project, you will be able to register as a user of HPCx.
The Admin FAQ explains a lot about how HPCx is organised, and in particular how to register. Note that you will need two accounts: one on SAFE, the web-based admin server, and one on the service machine itself. Fortunately, you can register for both of these at once, and the FAQ entry explains how.
