These will take place on the stands of UK e-Science, HPCx, the US TeraGrid and several TeraGrid affiliates. AHE provides a single, easy-to-use interface to access many computational resources on a national and international scale, facilitating interaction of HPCx with low and high end machines on a global scale. We are hoping to include demonstrations of interoperability between Globus based grids (including the UK National Grid Service and the TeraGrid) and Unicore based ones (including the European DEISA grid). During this period, we shall be performing a large number of scientific computations, including studies of cubic meosphases using the lattice-Boltzmann method, clay nanomaterials and HIV/AIDS drug infection studies based on molecular dynamics. In order to support these demonstrations, EPSRC has authorised us to reserve a parcel of 256 processors in the capacity region from 16:00 (UK time) on Monday 12 November to the same time on Friday November 17. As there are currently 800 processors in this region, this should not seriously affect other users' work; there may be some increase in waiting times for jobs using less than 256 processors. AHE is featured in the forthcoming issue of Capability Computing. It is available to download from www.realitygrid.org/AHE/ and, shortly, from the Open Middleware Infrastructure Institute (www.omii.ac.uk). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SC06 - SUPERCOMPUTING IN TAMPA - "POWERFUL BEYOND IMAGINATION" SC06, "the premier international conference on high performance computing, networking, storage and analysis", will take place in Tampa, FL, USA over November 11 - 17. For details go to the website at http://sc06.supercomputing.org/ It says: This year the conference will take its inspiration from Albert Einstein who said "Computers are incredibly fast, accurate and stupid; humans are incredibly slow, inaccurate and brilliant; together they are powerful beyond imagination." Following the traditions set with the first SC conference in 1988, exciting technical and educational programs, workshops, tutorials, exhibits, demonstrations and many other activities await attendees. SC06 is the one place where attendees can see tomorrow's technology being used to solve world-class challenge problems today. HPCx will be there - come and see us at booths 209/213.
