Building work for the NWDA site on 13/05/03 at Daresbury necessitates the diversion of the fibre cabling. From 18:00 to 24:00 there will be no external network access, therefore the HPCx service will be unavailable during this period. To minimise the outage in this week, the maintenance slot that had been scheduled for 14/05/03 has now been moved to 13/05/03. HPCx will therefore be unavailable on this date from 12:00 to 24:00. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ANNUAL HPC USERS MEETING To be held in conjunction with the second e-Science All Hands Meeting, in Nottingham from September 2-4, 2003. The following message is from Deborah Miller, of EPSRC: Please find attached a call for abstracts for the second e-Science All Hands Meeting to be held in Nottingham from September 2 - 4. Alternatively, background to the All Hands Meeting and the Call for Abstracts can be found at the following websites: http://www.research-councils.ac.uk/escience/documents/allhands2003webpage.htm http://www.research-councils.ac.uk/escience/documents/callforabstracts.shtml This year, the annual HPC users meeting has been amalgamated with the e-Science All Hands Meeting, so you are invited to submit abstracts covering all the options for participation in this meeting. In addition, it is planned that two of the parallel sessions will be on the themes of "the GRID and HPC: Teraflops towards Petaflops" and on "HPC and the Life Sciences". So abstracts for presentations in these sessions are particularly welcome. I hope that you will take this opportunity to participate in the All Hands Meeting and look forward to seeing you in Nottingham this September.
