We are now preparing for the 'early use' phase, which should start on or around 2 April. A number of projects have been invited to take part. I shall report progress again in a fortnight's time. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- IBM: INPUT URGENTLY NEEDED! IBM has asked us to contact users with the following information regarding ongoing improvements to system libraries: IBM continues to develop enhancements to system libraries, in part as a result of requests from the general HPC user community. IBM has already delivered enhancements to key MPI collective routines, which are part of the general software upgrade for HPCx Phase 2, with the aim of improving the performance of user applications. IBM is keen to understand the requirements of the HPCx user community in particular so as to prioritise the work accordingly. If there are specific library routines which are currently crucial to the performance of your codes then please let us know. Note that there is quite a tight deadline for this exercise of FRIDAY 26TH MARCH. Any suggestions or comments should be sent to David Henty, the HPCx Applications Support Team Leader . ---------------------------------------------------------------------- THE HPCx ANNUAL SEMINAR, 9th JULY 2004 This is a CALL FOR SPEAKERS to all users of HPCx on the topic of NEW SCIENCE FROM CAPABILITY COMPUTING. We expect to have speakers from the UK, Europe and the US. However, we are very keen to host talks by our users for the benefit of the HPCx community as a whole. If you are interested in giving a talk, please email to seminar@hpcx.ac.uk with your name, the title of the talk and a brief abstract. We expect that most of the talks by users will be around 30 minutes long. On the day before the Seminar, Thursday 8th July, there will be a programme of related events: ** an all day course: "Improved Performance Scaling on HPCx", held at EPCC, Edinburgh University, ** an early evening HPCx User Group meeting, held at NeSC and over the Access Grid, ** and an evening buffet/wine reception held the Talbot Rice Art Gallery, Edinburgh, Users are cordially invited to them all.
