Notes on each of the courses appear below. All HPCx users and other UK academics are very welcome. Monday October 25: The DL-POLY Molecular Dynamics package Tuesday October 26: Using the HPCx Service Wednesday-Thursday October 27-28: Message-Passing Programming with MPI To register for any of the courses, please go here: http://www.hpcx.ac.uk/support/training/form.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MONDAY OCTOBER 25: THE DL-POLY MOLECULAR DYNAMICS PACKAGE DL_POLY is a parallel molecular dynamics simulation package developed at Daresbury Laboratory by Bill Smith and T.R. Forester. It is available for users on HPCx and can be used to simulate a wide variety of molecular systems. The course will be taught by Bill Smith. For details, please go here: http://www.hpcx.ac.uk/support/training/dl_poly.html For more about DL-POLY: http://www.hpcx.ac.uk/research/chemistry/dl_poly.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TUESDAY OCTOBER 26: USING THE HPCx SERVICE This course provides an overview of the HPCx service, and covers topics such as compilation, execution, batch job submission, tools and libraries. There is also an opportunity for attendees to request and receive consultancy on their own specific codes. For further details, please go here: http://www.hpcx.ac.uk/support/training/HPCxIntro.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- WEDNESDAY-THURSDAY OCTOBER 27-28: MESSAGE-PASSING PROGRAMMING AND MPI The world's largest supercomputers are used almost exclusively to run applications which are parallelised using Message Passing. The course covers all the basic knowledge required to write parallel programs using this programming model, and is directly applicable to almost every parallel computer architecture. The course uses the de facto standard for message passing, the Message Passing Interface (MPI). This will be a two-day version of the course described in the course description, which you can find here: http://www.epcc.ed.ac.uk/computing/training/courses/course_summaries/MessagePa ssing_summary.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Regards --John ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Earlier mailings: http://www.hpcx.ac.uk/support/notices/index.html To be removed from the mailing list: log into your website account, go to the "Update" page, and click the "Opt out of user emails" field; then click "Commit update". -- John Fisher j.fisher@epcc.ed.ac.uk HPCx User Administration and Helpdesk HPCx: http://www.hpcx.ac.uk Helpdesk: support@hpcx.ac.uk Phone: +44 131 650 5029 Fax: +44 131 650 6555
