You can take part in the survey through HPCx's Admin website - this ensures that only HPCx users take part. To do this: * Go to https://www.hpcx.ac.uk * Login into the website using your email address and password in the usual way * If you can't remember your password, click "Email" and it will send a new password to your registered email address * Find the "Grid Survey" panel and click "Complete" * Complete the survey questions. It only takes a few minutes to answer the survey - please help us by giving us your experiences and views. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DEISA SYMPOSIUM IN BOLOGNA IN MAY DEISA is a consortium of leading national supercomputing centres which operates a distributed supercomputing environment across Europe. The second DEISA Symposium will be held in Bologna, Italy, on the 4th and 5th of May, 2006. This is the second in a series that will take place every year in late spring in different locations around Europe. The purpose is to maintain an annual DEISA event dedicated to the discussion of the scientific and strategic challenges in the area of high performance computing, and to assess the impact of the DEISA research infrastructure on computational science in Europe. For a registration form and full details of the programme see: www.deisa.org/symposium For more details on HPCx in DEISA see: www.hpcx.ac.uk/research/deisa ---------------------------------------------------------------------- COURSE: Porting Codes from CSAR to HPCx Manchester Computing, Thursday 25 May 2006 Many CSAR users will be thinking about migrating their work to HPCx when the CSAR service closes at the end of June this year. As members of the HPC-UK consortium, the HPCx and CSAR services are collaborating to run a one-day workshop to provide training on the differences between the two systems and hands-on help in porting codes. The course tutors will be experienced members of the CSAR and HPCx staff. Its purpose to share information on software tools and techniques for developing scientific applications that achieve maximum performance and scalability on systems, and to gather and provide feedback to IBM to influence the evolution of their systems. ScicomP holds an annual international meeting - ScicomP 11 was in Edinburgh, hosted by EPCC, and was extremely successful and enjoyable. This year, ScicomP 12 will be held at NCAR in Boulder, Colorado, USA. Once again, the meeting will be co-located with the summer meeting of SP_XXL, the organisation for sites with have large IBM installations.
